Syllabus For BSF ASI (RM) And Head Constable (RO) 2016-2017
Candidate who want to apply for the BSF Assistant Sub Inspector and Head Constable exam should have the following Qualifications.
Candidate who want to apply for BSF Head Constable Exam must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have attained 23 years.
Candidate who want to apply for BSF Assistant Sub Inspector Exam must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have attained 25 years.
Age relaxation for the candidate who lie in SC/ST or a Government Servant or a 1984 victim is 5 years and those for who lie in OBC is 3 years.
Educational Qualification:
For Head Constable (Radio Operator):
Matric with Diploma in Radio and TV Technology or Electronics or Telecommunication or Computer or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or Domestic Appliances from any Institution recognised by the State Government or Central Government or 10+2 or Intermediate or equivalent with aggregate marks of fifty percent with selective subject being Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognised Board or Institution.
For Assistant Sub Inspector (Radio Mechanic) posts:
Matriculation or equivalent plus two years ITI certificate in Radio and TV or Electronics or Intermediate or 10 + 2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics from a recognized Board or Institution.
Physical Standards:
Candidate's height must be 170 cms, chest must be 80 cms (85 cms after expansion) and weight must be corresponding to height.There would be a run of 1.6 KM for which time duration is 8 mins.So you should have start your preparation before a month of Physical Test notification.
Medical Standards:
Candidates’ minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of the both eyes without correction. They must also pass high-grade colour vision test. Must not have knock-knees, flat feet or squint in eyes and any defect/deformity likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.

The written examination will be held in two phases:
I objective Type
II Descriptive Type
Pattern For objective Exam-
It will consist of 100 MCQ each carrying 2 marks. 0.5 marks will be deducted for each wrongly selected answer.
Physics – 50 marks,
Mathematics – 50 marks,
Chemistry – 50 marks,
English and General Knowledge – 50 marks.
Physics, Chemistry and Math questions will be of 12th class level.
Questions from History, Geography, General Science, Current affairs will be asked in GK section.
Pattern For Descriptive Exam-
For ASI (RM):
There will be one single exam of 200 marks. Questions from (i) Physics, (ii) Chemistry, (iii) Mathematics and (iv) Electronics will be asked. Questions from Electronics will be asked from diploma level. Other subjects will be based on 12th level.
For HC (RO):
2 exams will be held for Head Constable Recruitment and they are –
(a) Descriptive questions of 100 marks consisting of (i) Physics, (ii) Chemistry & (iii) English.
(b) Dictation Test – 100 marks.
