whenever you open a data file in your pc, Window use some file extension to run the application {such as .docx, .mp3, .jpg} to see which application is going to run. But the connection between the application & extension is flexible. you can change it when installation programs could change it.

Keep remember that multiple programs can opened many files. e.g:- suppose i have 20 programs in my pc that can open .jpg file. But only one of those .jpg's cen be default application- the one that load when you double click on that file.

If you double click a file, a wrong program opens.

 In windows File Explorer, right click on a file & open with the file extension you have in mind. you'll see the list of the programs that can run the program you clicked on.

At this point, you can select preferred program simply. But it solves the problem at once.

Right click on any file, select open with and then click the option you see in bottom of the submenu. By this option it'll choose a default option in window 7 as well as the window 8 but not in window 10. you'll see choose another app option in window 8.

After this you'll see a box where many programs have been shown select the one program to open your file & be sure that option for changing the default program is checked. In window 7, this kind of file will be always opened with the selected program. Use this app for all .xxx file in window 8 as well as in window 10. To open these kind of .xxx file use this app.
