1. Rajya Sabha is an Indian constitutional body of Indian Government. It is also called the upper house of the parliament of India.

2. On 13th May 1952, Rajya Sabha held its first session with 216 members.

3. Rajya Sabha consist of 250 members, 12 out of 250 are elected by the President of the country according to their eligibility and achievement in Social services, Science, Arts and literature.

4. Rajya Sabha members have a term of six years, but one-third of its members retire after every two years and new members get elected.
