How to set up Force Click on the MacBook, MacBook Pro

Apple was introduced the idea of Force Touch at its Apple watch event last September. You can tap the touch screen with a slightly more pressure. The Apple watch would detect extra force to bring up another menu or activate a feature.

The same functionality made its way to new MacBook recently, adding a new dimension to the otherwise earthen behavior of tapping or pressing on a trackpad.

How to set up Force Click on the MacBook, MacBook Pro

The feature is set enabled by default, but you can set up and change its behavior with just few clicks. On the MAC, launch the preference app. You can find it in application folder or by using spotlight and search for preferences.
Find the Trackpad icon and click on it.
There are mainly three settings to look at under the point & click tab:

The first setting is titled look up & data detectors. When enabled as it is by default, you can Force Click on the items many types of data to bring up a preview of the item. e.g: Force clicking bring up its definition while clicking on a word. You can also Force Click in an email and on a website page link and a preview of the linked page will pop up. You can adjust how much pressure is required for the trackpad to register a click, which is something your should keep in mind. When I was started a new trackpad, I found that I'm pressing too hard for the default Medium setting causing menus and previews to show up when I merely meant to open a file.Change this setting to firm made the issue go away.

If you want to disable the feature, uncheck the box located next to the Force Click and haptic feedback at the bottom of the screen.
