There are many reasons to change your computer's name especially when you bought it diectly from a manufacturer and it's a named something generic like "windows-user-pc" or "TUF0004811EG". If you want to connect computers through a homegroup or to recognize those computers which are on the same network. Changing your computer name is definitely helpful.

If you want to name your computer something cool-add a personal touch. I name all my computers to Digital World. You can name your computer anything you want to...

Befor windows 10 , Changing your computre name was complicated. Not so so much complicated if you are a depely windows user or tech geek then you can easily change your computer name in the earlier versions of windows in control panel settings. You can still change your computer name in system properties, windows 10 has made it much simple after putting it in new settings menu.
1. Open Settings and go to System => About.

2. In about menu, you'll see a name of your computer next to PC name and button of rename PC. Click on this button.

3. Now type the new name of your computer. You can use letters, numbers and hyphens -- no spaces. Then click Next.

4. Suddenly a window will pop-up asking if you want to restart your computer now or later, select restart now. whenever you restart it you'll see the updated name of your computer.
