1. 6th June 1981 - Bihar Train Accident
This was the worst accident of train when more than 1000 passengers were travelling in this train and the tragedy came.This train accident caused by the engineer who was controlling the 9 cars train filled with more than 1000 passengers crossing from the state Bihar 250 miles away from Calcutta.The engineer was reverential of cows and to avoid the cow of accident from train the engineer brake too hard that the last 7 cars of the train fell in the Baghmati river and hundreds of people got dead.According to a report more than 600 people were died of this accident.So this was the most terrible train accident which had have ever take place before.Some other says that the cause of accident was the cyclone and some of that says that heavenly rain fall was the cause of this accident.
2. 20th June 1995 - Firzabad Rail Disaster
The 2nd top scary rail accident took place in the Northern India by the collision of two trains.The actual cause for this accident was also a cow like that of 1981 tragedy.Cows are the religious animal of the Hindu religion and are permitted to move freely across the country.But this time their freedom really cause a rail disaster.Kalinidi express moving ahead to New Delhi but at night it strike to a cow and its brake got damaged.All the 900 passengers were safe till now but the train couldn't continue the journey and it was fully stopped.Now just a few minutes back of this train Prusotam express was also coming on the same track.The signalman couldn't stop this express train and now it was a few meters away from the Kalinidi express.All the 1300 passengers were sleeping in the train and no one had known that they are going to lose their lives and this train collide with the fully stopped Kalindi express. 6 cars of the trains were virtually exploded on each other.More than 350 people were died of this accident and more than 400 people were seriously injured.This was really deadly train accident after the 1981 rail tragedy.
3. 2 August 1999 - Awadh-Assam Express and Brahmaputra Train Accident
On the 2nd of August 1999, Awadh-Assam Express was stationary at the station.Now Brahmaputra from Dibrugarh, full of soldiers was also coming on the same track.Due to careless signal man and stationmasters of the Gaisel-310 miles away from Assam, the Brahmaputa was not informed to be stopped there.Brahamputra near at 1:30 am collide with Awadh-Assam express which was stopped at the station.The engine of Awadd express was fully high in the air and the sleeping passengers were found in the neighboring buldings.It was reported that more that 300 people were died of this accident and more than 350 people were seriously injured by the accident.So this is listed at 3rd top rail disaster in the list od top 10 train disaster in India.
4. 26th Nov 1998 - Khanna Rail Disaster
On the 26th Of Nov 1998, there had been collision between two trains.Jammu Tawi-Sealdah Express rams into three derailed bogies of Amritsar bound Frontier Golden Temple Mail.Golden Temple was derailed because of the broken rails.The six caoches Jammu Tawi collide with the Mail express and more than 200 people were declared dead in this accident.Both the trains were carrying a total of 2500 passengers and lots of them were injured seriously.The reason for this accident was the broken rails because of why the train was derailed.
5. 28th May 2010 - Gyaneshwari Express Derailment Disaster
On the 28th May 2010, Mumbai bound Howrah Kurla Lokmanya Tilak Gyaneshwari Super Deluxe Express was derailed because of the bomb damaged rail.This bomb damaged rail led to derailment of this train before an oncoming goods trains hit the lose carriage resulting in the death of more than 140 people and more than 250 people were injured in this accident.This is among the most terrible train accidents occured in India.
6. 23rd Dec 1964 - Pamban- Dhanuskodi Passenger Disaster
On the 23rd of Dec 1964, Pamban-Dhanuskodi passenger train washed away by the Rameshwaram cyclone and all the 150 passengers travelling in this train declared dead.Some says that it was the off season otherwise it could be the deadlier one.
7. 9th Sept 2002 - Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express
On 9th of Sept 2002, Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani express derailed dueto the weak rails at 10:40 pm.This was a great accident and 140 passengers lost their lives in this accidents.Other accident may also had occured because this rail was made in the British era.The accident took place near the Rafiganj station.

On the 17th of July 1937, the express train from Calcutta plunged down unbankment near Bihta station which is about 15 miles away from the Patna.In this accident more than 100 people were died and more than 50 were injured.
